From 28 September 2012 to 20 January 2013 GAMeC is pleased to present the 4th edition of Artists’ Film International, a project created by the Whitechapel Gallery in London involving this year 12 international institutions all over the world.

As in the previous edition of this show (known as Art in the Auditorium) each institution has been asked to report an artist – or a group of artists – coming from its country, through a selection of works in which the use of moving images represents the key medium.

The artists and the institutions involved in the project for this edition are:

Corin Sworn / Whitechapel Gallery, London
Gianluca e Massimiliano De Serio / GAMeC, Bergamo
Alejandro Cesarco / Fundación PROA, Buenos Aires
Sefer Memisoglu / Istanbul Modern, Istanbul
Dan Finsel / Ballroom Marfa, Marfa
Anetta Mona Chisa & Lucia Tkacova / Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Berlino
Aleksandar Jestrovic Jamesdin / Belgrade Cultural Centre, Belgrado
Ben Hagari / New Media Center, Haifa
Karim Debbagh / Cinémathèque de Tanger, Tangier
Sriwhana Spong / City Gallery Wellington, Wellington
Nguyen Trinh Thi / Sàn Art, Ho Chi Minh City
Liu Chuang / Para/Site, Hong Kong

Again this year, the event hosts videos and films from a wide variety of cultural settings. It thus offers a selection of what has now become a global medium – the video – with which artists recount their own reality as well as ours from the four corners of the earth, using languages such as documentaries and fiction, and registers ranging from irony to social criticism.
